About Us South East Imaging Academy
The South East Imaging Academy [SEIA] was established in 2021, following publication of Mike Richards’ Diagnostic Recovery and Renewal report (2020) which recommended that training academies be established to support acceleration in high quality training, as workforce was recognised as the most valued asset within the NHS.
SEIA is committed to ensuring that education and training aligns with, and is informed by service delivery requirements, and works in partnership with the four South East Imaging Networks to facilitate this, covering Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Sussex, Surrey, and Kent. SEIA delivers and supports education and training across the breadth of the imaging profession, catering for Resident Radiology doctors, Diagnostic and Reporting Radiographers, Mammographers, Sonographers [non-Obstetric], Radiology Nurses and Medical Physicists working within the region.
Within the SE region, Academy teaching, education & training is predominantly delivered remotely, supported by an online image sharing platform, with Imaging Networks providing more in-person sessions.
The core leadership team within SEIA is supported by a committed team of teaching faculty and Deanery educators.
